Victory for "4 Not 24" campaigners

A campaign against a planned funfair in Broomfield Park which would have lasted for 24 days has been successful. An Enfield cabinet member has written to neighbouring residents stating that the fair will not be held this year and that the council will be applying tighter conditions on future funfairs and circuses in the park to address the various issues raised by campaigners.

Enfield Council are currently consulting on their Safeguarding Adults Strategy (2018 – 2023). They are asking people who live and work in Enfield for their views on their next Safeguarding Adults Strategy, which will run until 2023. A Safeguarding Adults Strategy is a plan to keep adults safe from abuse and harm.

A useful session of Winchmore Hill Ward Forum

Last night's Winchmore Hill Ward Forum at the Orange Tree was by all accounts very informative and a success - apart from disruption from someone who will be standing in the council elections for one of the councillor seats in the ward. It seems that the police even had to intervene. Probably no coincidence that the same man is the only person I've ever had to ban from the PGC forums because he persisted in attacking "the man, not the ball" and for unacceptable language.

Help persuade Enfield Council to divest from fossil fuels

Fossil Free UK has revealed that councils across the UK are investing more than £16billion in the fossil fuel industry. It showed that Enfield Council, through its pension fund, was investing more than £60 million in such companies, representing 5.6% of its £1 billion total investments.
