Because of delays caused by the Cycle Enfield road works along the A105, the 329 bus is currently not running south of Wood Green station.  This will allow frequencies to be retained between Palmers Green and Enfield.  According to the TfL website, the route curtailment runs from 5th January to 30th March. Southbound buses are terminating very close to the usual stop outside Wood Green station.  However, buses towards Palmers Green on the 329 are not serving the northbound Wood.......

Waltham Forest's "village" traffic management schemes have been highly successful.  Hopefully, Enfield's road planners will be equally ambitious when they restart work on Quieter Neighbourhoods. As 2016 draws to a close it's good to see work finally under way to restore to people the freedom to travel along Green Lanes by bicycle safely and securely - a freedom that has been increasingly denied for the past fifty or sixty years.  Of all ways of travelling, apart from walking,.......

Roadworks aren't usually popular with residents. So workers in Ridge Avenue, Winchmore Hill, had a surprise on Friday morning when local parents came to say “Thank you for the bike lanes”, bringing with them a cooked breakfast. Palmers Green residents Clare Rogers, Claire Brady and Maggie Westhead, who all have children at schools in the borough, brought bacon rolls, pastries, tea, coffee and fruit juice for the workers' 10am tea break. They also displayed a homemade “Thank.......

Enfield Council's plans to install cycle lanes along the A105 are again being challenged, this time by Conservative councillors, who have "called in" the decision by the Cabinet Member for the Environment, Councillor Daniel Anderson, to implement the proposals as set out in the Statutory Consultation earlier this year. Under the Call In procedure the Conservative group is asking the Council's Overview & Scrutiny Committee to refer the decision back to Cllr Anderson, demanding that he hold a.......

Enfield Council's plans for cycle lanes along main roads and quieter neighbourhoods in residential areas moved a little closer to completion this week, when a High Court judge refused an application for a judicial review of the Cycle Enfield consultation arrangements and ordered that the Save Our Green Lanes campaigning group should pay the  Council's costs. The judge dismissed claims by the anti-cycle lane campaigners that there were  serious flaws in the way the consultation was.......

It is a little known fact that running a car engine while not in traffic is illegal.  Another little known fact is that turning off engines while stationary, even for a very short time, significantly reduces emissions of toxic exhaust fumes and climate-changing greenhouse gases. Recently the City of London Police began enforcing the law against running engines while parked, and there are plans to extend this to more London boroughs - unfortunately, Enfield is not on the list. An online.......

The Stage 1 Road Safety Audit for the A105 cycle lanes scheme has now been published.  The auditors, from Transport for London (TfL), have indicated that they are satisfied with the responses to all the safety issues that they raised.  Unfortunately, the auditors did not comment on hazards for pedestrians crossing roads at the Green Lanes/Hedge Lane/Bourne Hill junction, presumably because their terms of reference state that "Safety Audit is not intended to identify pre-existing.......

The debate about Enfield’s Mini Holland rages on via social media and the local press – will there be gridlocked roads? Vacant businesses? Cyclists mowing down the elderly at bus stops? Meanwhile, some of us from Better Streets for Enfield and Enfield Cycling Campaign decided it would be easiest just to go and look at a Mini Holland that’s already in progress. Waltham Forest is, after all, next door to us, and ahead of Enfield in completing the work.
