Next week the Dugdale Centre will be presenting a play written by an Enfield resident designed to alert young people and their parents and teachers about some of the dangers that thoughtless use of online social media can cause. A play to be performed this week at the Dugdale Centre traces the lives of two notable women from Edmonton - one thought to be a witch, the other a saint. Calling it a "play" doesn't really do it justice - The Determined and the Damned includes especially written lyrics, a live band, films clips and animation. Local theatre group InterACTion has assembled a cast of 25 people to present the two lives.  Three different actors play the "witch", three more the "saint".  Reflecting.......

This year's spring production by FFBOS is a radical retelling of the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, The Mikado.  Retitled Hot Mikado, this musical story brings a modern twist to the popular tale about the wandering minstrel Nanki-Poo and his love for the fair maid Yum-Yum. Expect hot jazz solos, big swing numbers and sharp zoot suits, as FFBOS brings this fantastic show to life. Despite the name, Finchley & Friern Barnet Operatic Society, or FFBOS for short, is based in Enfield borough, rehearsing in New Southgate and performing at the Intimate Theatre in Palmers Green. The next FFBOS show - the classic musical Mack and Mabel - opens at the Intimate on 12th October and runs until the 15th. The opening night will be a gala performance in aid of Cherry Lodge Cancer Care in Barnet.  One of the guests will be Elaine Page, who is Honorary President of FFBOS. See.......

Saturday sees the start of the first ever Lamb Festival, a week of free events in All Saints Church, Edmonton, to commemorate the lives and work of Edmonton's most celebrated literary siblings - Charles and Mary Lamb. All the events are free (though donations are welcomed).
