St Harmonica's Blues Club: JD & the Electro-Tones + Big Alan Craig
The Southgate Club, 17 Chase Side, N14 5BP
It’s a delight to welcome JD & the Electro-Tones to our new venue at St Harmonica’s Blues Club this Friday; the old v was packed and jumping the last time that they played. For my money, Julien D’imperio is one of the finest harmonica players on the blues scenes as well as being a great vocalist and frontman. Julien has played with just about the best there is and he is bringing some of them with him this week.
Davide Mazzantini is on guitar, he has played at St Harmonica’s before and is a wonderful player who has played with, amongst others Little George Sueref and Dust me Down Blues. On double bass Orlando Shearer (also of Wes Weston, and Chad and the Cadillacs) makes sure that the band has that swing while Mike Thorne (Wes Weston, Paul Lamb and the King Snakes) on drums provides the final ingredient. Serious pedigree; this blues outfit will take you on a ride through the electric Blues heritage of 1950s America with a repertoire of Chicago Blues, Texas, Louisiana and maybe on the feel of the moment, a stop by the Mississippi "Hill Country Blues"... Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, RL Burnside, Slim Harpo and many more!
Half time comes in the form of Big Alan Craig so we have a fine evening in prospect
And for all you Blues Jammers, the next St Harmonica’s Jam is on Sunday March 3rd, 6.00pm -9.00pm but if you can’t wait for that then every Monday there is the Leytonstone Blues Jam starting at 8.30pm at the Leytonstone Ex-Servicemens Club, 2 Harvey Road, Leytonstone E11 3DB http://www.leytonstonebluesjam.co.uk Admission is just £1.00 for jammers and £2.00 to be part of the audience. Next week, Monday 25th February sees Phil Hughes with Raf as guest artists.
