St Harmonica's Blues Club: Dawn Sandells & Roots 101
The Southgate Club, 17 Chase Side, N14 5BP (Entrance is in Crown Lane)
What a fantastic night last Friday from the Cinelli Brothers and from Sky Wood and Jesse Thomas at half time. We had to follow them with an equally good offering this week and you won’t be disappointed when Dawn Sandells, the Welsh Wolverine, brings her powerful evocation of the blues back to St Harmonicas with a very impressive band all of whom are steeped in this music, Dawn Sandells and Roots 101. Dawn is no stranger to St Harmonica’s having performed at the old venue a few times and also having been invited to play at Livestock, Beer & Blues and at the Broomfield Bandstand festivals so we now how good she is. As well as these she has performed throughout the UK and Europe
Now based back in Wales Dawn’s band consists of Steve Simpson on guitar and vocals, the multi-talented Jim Russell on drums, Malcolm Hoskins on bass and the magnificent Janos Baitala on keyboards. You can google the pedigree of all these players to see the quality of this line up. Expect an evening of sassy, classy and powerful blues….don’t miss it
Half time support comes in the form of Steve Ingrey and Dave Barton, The Fox Chasers back in the saddle with wonderful acoustic blues and Mark Hoffman will be spinning some very rare early blues records on his wheels of steel from 8.00pm to lead us in.
LIVESTOCK
And then on Saturday, 27th, we have Livestock at Forty Hall Farm. North London’s finest festival which includes the Woodland Blues Stage in a delightful glade in the woods with another outstanding line up (below). Full details at https://www.livestockuk.com and tickets just £25 for the day.
