St Harmonica's Blues Club: The Cadillac Kings + Two Man Job

The Southgate Club, 17 Chase Side, N14 5BP (Entrance is in Crown Lane)

201910 cadillac kings

Quite simply, one of the best bands around, firm favourites on the blues, r&b; rock n’ roll and swing dance scenes; we are honoured and delighted that they continue to play at the club; read on………..

Since their last visit to St. Harmonica’s the Cadillac Kings have gone from strength to strength. Their 5th album “The Secret of my Success” ended up on so many playlists that it was voted one of the top three blues cds of 2016 by the Independent Blues Broadcasters’ Association (alongside Kaz Hawkins and Joe Bonamassa).

Throughout 2017 the cd continued to make inroads into US radio and to the astonishment of the band reached #1 in Cashbox Magazine’s Blues & Boogie Chart in September 2017, and stayed there for four weeks, holding off acts such as The Fabulous Thunderbirds, John Primer, Coco Montoya, Rick Estrin & The Nightcats, Samantha Fish et al. The Cadillac Kings were the only UK act to figure in the chart during 2017.

2018 saw the band celebrating its 18th birthday with the present line-up including the multi-talented 'Professor’ Tim Penn (ex Kevin Coyne, Eclection, Gordon Smith Band) on piano, accordion and vocals, alongside brilliant guitarist Mal Barclay, singer/ harp-player/ slide player & songwriter Mike Thomas, and the top notch rhythm section of double bassist Paul Cuff and drummer Roy Webber.

“Entertaining, authentic and infectious - The Cadillac Kings’ high energy R&B is enough to put a foaming head on a pint of real ale!” (Blues in Britain).

Have a look at their website www.cadillackings.co.uk and understand why you need to arrive early on Friday to get best seats; oh, and bring your dancing shoes!

Half time is not bad either coming  in the form of Two Man Job,Sky Wood with Jesse Thomas performing their acoustic duo set

St Harmonica's at the Southgate Club

St Harmonica's will be at the Southgate Club on Fridays - apart from the first Friday of the month. Instead of the first Friday of the month, St Harmonica's will be at the Southgate Club on the Sunday after the first Friday (which in some months will be the second Sunday of the month).

Purchase an annual membership card for just £5 (cheapest membership anywhere?) and thereafter admission is free on Friday blues nights and Sunday blues jams. As we’ve always done, we will take ‘the hat’ around for donations, which is how the bands get paid. The Southgate Club will take the bar takings, which is how they are able to give us the venue at no cost.

So you know where your membership fee goes, we’ve had to buy some new PA equipment this year and get a mixer repaired, which cost us over £1k, and we need a reserve to top up the bands’ fees when the evening’s hat doesn’t quite make it.

Doors open at 8.00pm, the entrance is at the back in Crown Lane, and 2019 membership cards will be available on the door. Parking is fine after 6.30 in local streets and there is always 3 hour free parking in the Asda car park, public transport is a doddle!
