Friday 28 June 8.30pm - 11.30pm

St Harmonica's Blues Club: The Incredible Blues Puppies + Malcolm Hine

The Southgate Club, 17 Chase Side, N14 5BP (Entrance is in Crown Lane)

201906 blues puppies

Every now and then you get a band where every member has an amazing pedigree in the blues and this Friday we’ve got one! A band with history.

Alan Glen has played at our old venue before. He brings his vocals, guitar and harmonica skills which have previously been put to good use with the Yardbirds, Nine Below Zero and Little Axe along with a remarkable line up. Tim Hain (Lagavulins and Tim Hain Band) also provides vocals and guitar with Bob Haddrell (Barcodes / Bernie Marsden / Sonny Black ) also providing vocals along with piano and organ. The rhythm section comprises Alan Vincent (Shakey Vick / Flamingo Allstars) on bass with Peter Miles (Radical Sheiks and Jo Anne Kelly) on drums.

The Incredible Blues Puppies play a cool mix of original blues and well chosen blues classics - having played at festivals and venues both in the UK and abroad including - Colne Blues Fest / Brecon Jazz Fest / Chedigny Blues Fest / Hideaway Club Streatham / Eel Pie Club Twickenham / Bulls Head Barnes / Crawdaddy Club Richmond / Ealing Blues Festival / Rotherhithe Festival / Boarhunt Blues Club etc.

Their two albums - 'Puppy Fat' and 'In The Doghouse' ( Note Records ) have been played extensively on radio stations around the world.

'One of the best blues bands around' - Paul Jones - BBC
'A class Act' - Blues in Britain
'Knockout blues' - Charlie Musselwhite

More information on the website if you need it.

Half time comes in the form of one of the UK’s best kept slide secrets, Graham Hine, formerly slide guitarist with the legendary Brett Marvin & The Thunderbolts playing his acclaimed solo set.

An evening not to be missed.

St Harmonica's at the Southgate Club

St Harmonica's will be at the Southgate Club on Fridays - apart from the first Friday of the month. Instead of the first Friday of the month, St Harmonica's will be at the Southgate Club on the Sunday after the first Friday (which in some months will be the second Sunday of the month).

Purchase an annual membership card for just £5 (cheapest membership anywhere?) and thereafter admission is free on Friday blues nights and Sunday blues jams. As we’ve always done, we will take ‘the hat’ around for donations, which is how the bands get paid. The Southgate Club will take the bar takings, which is how they are able to give us the venue at no cost.

So you know where your membership fee goes, we’ve had to buy some new PA equipment this year and get a mixer repaired, which cost us over £1k, and we need a reserve to top up the bands’ fees when the evening’s hat doesn’t quite make it.

Doors open at 8.00pm, the entrance is at the back in Crown Lane, and 2019 membership cards will be available on the door. Parking is fine after 6.30 in local streets and there is always 3 hour free parking in the Asda car park, public transport is a doddle!
