Talk: The suburban home front in the Second World War

Jubilee Hall, 2 Parsonage Lane, Enfield, EN2 0AJ

enfield society logo

Talk by Mike Brown. The British Home Front is often portrayed as a common shared-experience, yet in reality it was very different depending on where you lived, especially town or country, and what period of the war. In this talk Mike Brown looks at life in the suburbs during WWII, and the changes which took place over the six years of the war, using artefacts and anecdotes collected in researching his books.

A regular programme of talks is arranged by the Enfield Society. These are free to members and non-members are welcome to attend for a modest charge (typically £1 per meeting). Refreshments will be available and our sales counter will be open. Jubilee Hall, 2 Parsonage Lane, is near the junction with Chase Side and there is an access ramp for wheelchairs.
