Talkies Community Cinema: Eaten by Lions

Bounds Green Bowling & Tennis Club, Goring Road, N11 2DD

202003 eaten by lions

Omar (Antonio Aakeel – Tomb Raider) and Pete (Jack Carroll – Trollied) are half-brothers. When their Gran passes away, they go on a life changing road trip to find Omar’s birth father (Asim Chaudhry – People Just Do Nothing). Armed with a biscuit tin containing a birth certificate, a photograph and their deceased mother’s diary, the pair of likely lads head on a quest that will change their lives forever. Along the way they meet a dodgy fortune teller (Tom Binns – Hospital People), their racist aunt (Vicki Pepperdine – Camping) and uncle (Kevin Eldon – Hot Fuzz) and a seedy guest house owner (Johnny Vegas – Benidorm). What could possibly go wrong? What follows is a hilarious journey of self-discovery and the true meaning of family, set amongst the bright lights of Blackpool.

★ ★ ★ ★ The Guardian – “seedy seaside comedy treat
★ ★ ★ Radio Times – “A pleasant seaside trip with its heart in the right place”
★ ★ ★ ★ Britflicks – “Warm and surreally comedic”
★ ★ ★ Empire – “it keeps raising smiles by hitting its socio-cultural targets with sly precision”
★ ★ ★ ★ Dog & Wolf – “The comic chemistry between Omar and Pete means their jokes and one-liners about the obvious realities of disability and race crackle and are genuinely funny”
