...and liberate your creativity!

Our favourite poet, Paul Lyalls, returns for another run of his popular course,‘Finding the Poem.’

Prioritise Your Writing Project! with Alison Chandler

"Alison is genuinely passionate about writing and is enthusiastic for her students. Her advice is constructive and never patronizing." Margaret.

ALISON CHANDLERExcited at the idea of giving your work in progress some well-deserved focus? Then join us for six weeks of intensive writing and feedback designed to take your work to the next level.

  • We will set individual goals and encourage each other to achieve them
  • We will write in and out of the Writing Room
  • We will share our writing in small, supportive groups, receiving and giving detailed notes, and learning from each other

This workshop-based course is ideal if you want to make major headway with your writing project whether you’re working on a novel, a memoir or a short story collection. You should be able to commit to writing daily throughout the course and to giving, as well as receiving, thoughtful feedback over the six weeks we are together. It is important to attend all the sessions.

Your tutor, Alison Chandler, has over five years’ experience supporting writers on the road to completing their manuscripts, and has produced three novels of her own.

Finding the Poem with Paul Lyalls

"I did Paul’s course this Autumn and I can honestly say that it was one of the best decisions I have made this year! Having been mildly terrified at the idea of starting, I quickly began to look forward to each session and have missed it terribly since it ended." Laura

Monday evenings, 6.45pm to 9.15pm; dates June 3, 10, 17, 24, July 1, 8; cost £99; venue Writing Room

PaulLyalls1.jpg200x250 Q90 002Complete beginners to poetry sought! Relative newcomers very welcome! Seasoned poets – come along too! This is a course for anyone who wants to liberate their creativity and immerse themselves in the joy of language. Playful, fun, entertaining, enlightening – explore your word power with Paul Lyalls. A note to prose writers: have you ever wondered what it is like to write in the poetic form? Perhaps you write in prose automatically, but would like to try to use language in another way. If your fiction needs a lift, if your life-writing needs lilt, if your central characters don’t quite sing (or even if they do!) you can free your writing through poetry.
