wea logo wideA ten-week course starting in January in Enfield Town will be an opportunity to listen to, learn about and discuss music taken from a wide range of periods - from as early as 750 years ago and right up to the present day.

The course is run by the Enfield & Southgate branch of WEA and will be presented by the distinguished tutor Alan Mills.

This is the second half of a two-part course Turning Points and Fresh Horizons: Why the History of Music Keeps Changing. But there's no need to have done the first part - it will work perfectly well on its own. Having said that, there is still a chance to join the friendly and welcoming group that is already studying part 1.

This course is currently undersubscribed and there is a risk that part 2 might not run unless enough people pre-register for it. It would be a great shame if the course had to close - so why not give it a go?

Ring the WEA to do this by phone, 0300 303 3464, and speak to one of the pleasant and helpful operators.

Turning Points and Fresh Horizons: Why the History of Music Keeps Changing 2

turning points and fresh horizons courseThis course will be based around listening to music from a wide range of periods during the last 750 years - up to the present day. All music will be presented against the background of its wider cultural context, which will be discussed alongside the music itself. Some explanation of technical terms will be provided, but on the whole this course requires no specific musical knowledge, nor does it expect students to be able to read music.
