Inspired by the wonderful wetlands in Firs Farm, this is our second Firs Farm photography competition. If you've never entered a photographic competition before this is an ideal opportunity to start. The competition will take place as part of the Firs Farm Wetlands 'Get out & Get active' project on 12th May 2019. So come on, get out and capture your Wetlands inspiration!

The team of volunteers who look after the plants in Broomfield Conservatory and open it to the public twice a week had another successful year in 2017.  June Dawes sums up the year. Earlier today the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness, chaired by Jo’s friends Seema Kennedy MP and Rachel Reeves MP, launched a report on its findings in Batley alongside Jo’s family. The report marks the culmination of the year-long commission that Jo started before she was killed. Chris Horner of Southgate District Civic Trust is asking for local community groups to help make Southgate Civic Week a great success. This year the size and number of events has expanded ; there are now 33 events, as so many community groups have engaged with this community event . SDCT members show off their Civic Day Award. North London Samaritans have got through the first stage of a submission to the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore the "Tin Tabernacle" in Bowes Park for use as a call centre and community centre.  To succeed in Stage 2 they need to prove that there is sufficient demand from community groups and other organisations who would wish to hire such a hall.
