Business and energy secretary Greg Clark has given the go-ahead to a new energy-from-waste plant at the Edmonton EcoPark. The plans were approved following an examination by the Planning Inspectorate which began in February 2016. It will replace Edmonton’s existing energy-from-waste facility (easily seen from the North Circular and many local spots with an easterly viewpoint) with a new plant which, unlike the old one, will produce heat as well as power. The onward march of developers converting office buildings into flats continues. Local examples include the distinctive curved office "Black Horse" block near Cockfosters Station. More recently there has been an application concernging the Office Village in Southgate (behind the White Hart in Chase Road) and now a property company is planning to covert the large block in Green Lanes, Winchmore Hill - Capitol House, which was originally built to accommodate civil servants.

Southgate District Civic Trust have drawn attention to an application for planning permission to develop the site of the former Thomas Lipton Memorial Hostel. The Lipton Memorial Hostel occupied a mansion, Osidge, built in 1808 and later the home of tea and groceries magnate Thomas Lipton.  Lipton died in 1931, bequeathing his house to the Queen's Nursing Association.  At its opening in 1935 it provided accommodation for 14 retired nurses.  Additional buildings were later added,.......

The owners of the former university campus in Trent Park have published a response to the online petition which calls for the creation of a museum in the mansion and continued public access to the grounds of the former campus. The Save Trent Park campaign has this week launched a new petition asking the owners of the mansion and former university site to set up a museum in the mansion to marks its vital top secret role during World War II. The Pinkham Way Alliance (PWA) has published the text of its detailed submission to Haringey Council in response to the public consultation on Haringey Local Plan documents.  Its representations are aimed at preventing development of open land which was once the site of the Friern Barnet Sewage Works site at Pinkham Way, adjacent to the North Circular Road and Muswell Hill Golf Course.
